Marmite

My baby girl is 7 months and enjoys a range of foods so far. I've avoided putting Marmite on her toast due to the salt content, am wondering what everyone else things. She hasn't had anything with added sugar or salt, nor do I intend to start adding either to her food, but wondered about marmite since she wouldn't be getting much.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Annabel Karmel says to use tiny amounts on toast as finger foods but I've avoided it because of salt content (and because I can't stand the stuff ).

DS 7mo just grabs my marmite on toast straight from my hands and stuffs it in. i only have it occassionally so i do not worry about it with him. i am just glad he likes a variety of food.

DD begged it off me as soon as she was old enough (8m?). She loved it so much -- the amount in a serving isn't much if there isn't salt in the rest of the food, so I decided not to care about that.

In fact, just remembered that early suspicions that she was saying 'ma ma' to call me turned out to be totally wrong once we realised that she was actually saying 'marmite' (get the girl an advertising contract!)
