Not having solids

My 6 month old baby struggles to eat solids he dose okay with purées but when he has solids it just comes back out or he chokes I started weaning him at about 4 months as he stopped drinking his milk so got suggest to start weaning but I thought he would know how to eat solids a bit better now is this normal am I doing something wrong??

I don't think you're doing anything wrong at all. It takes time for them to learn to pick up food, chew it and swallow safely. Most babies have only just developed enough coordination to pick food up and put it to their mouths at 6 months.
