Milk versus solids for a 7 month old

DS is 7 months and is having a lot of formula. He eats little amounts of solids but loses interest very quickly (eg.after 4 or 5 mouthfuls). My question is - if they're getting enough milk and enough solids then which do you push at this stage, the milk or the solids? (as I don't feel he's hungry enough for everything I'm giving him). Is the idea that they need only their pint of milk, or that they need the pint as a minimum but more is even better? Hope that makes sense!

milk should be the main source of nutrition until they're one, tink, with food being complementary to that.
i'm not sure about the pint thing, how many bottles is your ds having a day? dd was on a good 5x7oz bottles until she was 13 months but in that time food started to take over and she dropped milk feeds.
it's different for all children, though. i used to make sure to offer dd food (i did BLW so it was finger food) when i knew she wasn't hungry, iykwim? the hungrier she got the more frustrating it might be. you could try offering some finger food but it sounds like you're doing fine.

I reckon keep the milk as it is, and the food will increase, he's still so little its all just exploring at the moment rather than getting any nutritional value from it. We also did blw and dd2 is nearly 1 and still on four 8oz bottles per day, PLUS three large meals, and she was just a monstrous breastfeeder, i never knew wehn i was meant to get any flaming food into her in between three thousand feeds a day!

How many 'meals' are you doing and how long have you been weaning for?

We also did blw and at this stage i think we were still only offering food twice a day, with main focus on milk.

Aitch, the pint thing is the amount that a baby should have until one year old. DS is on 7 bottles a day (2 of those in the night). Meal-wise he's having breakfast and tea - a mixture of mashed food and finger food. I just wondered if he'd be more interested in food if I dropped a bottle, as I'm sure he doesn't need all the milk he's having at the moment. He could easily miss out a bottle in the daytime but I'm wondering whether to drop it or not (even with the missed bottle he'd still be having enough milk).

i thought it was something like between 18 and 35 oz until one? that's off the top of my head, it's a long time ago. how many oz in a pint? [metric]

There are 20 ounces in a pint. JellyBelly, forgot to answer that we've been weaning for about 5 weeks. We started on the exact day that he was 6 months - not that we'd been waiting or anything
