hi,

am i right to think that the only reason you dont give cow milk to a baby less than a year old is because of the lack of iron?

right now im wasting 2/3 small boxes of formula per week. in the morning i make porridge for my DD with a bit of formula, and the leftover of the formula (around 90%!) goes in the fridge. but sometimes i forget to use that box in the fridge and it ends up in the bin. she is still breastfed 2/3 times per day and have 3 9oz bottle of formula.

is it ok if i start using cow milk for her porridge?

Absolutely fine. Cow's milk is ok to use in meals, it's just replacing ffs/bfs with it as a main drink that is a problem before 1yo.

I think you can use cows milk to make up breakfast from about 6 months. Not sure what the official advice is, but that's what we did.

full fat cows milk is ok in cereal, in cooking, etc from 6 months as long as the main drink is formula/breastmilk (till 1 year)
