little one starting to take water with taining freeflow beaker and has 4 milk feeds a day with avent bottles

by one year hv said shouold be off bottle

does that mean he should be taking the milk from the trianing beaker completely?

TOTALLY CONFUSED

at mo my 9 month old is using training beaker for water during meals and sipping okish but very little teeny amounts and then using avent bottle for milk feeds

surely you can give bottle for the last feed at night even after one year of age???

totally clueless

oh am watching this thread as I am in the same position with my 9mo. I have tried him with milk in a beaker and he threw it at me!!! and he drinks loads of water from a beaker as well...

It's best to get them off bottles early because of damage to teeth from frequent teat sucking on bottles.

We started off with the nine month cups (they are wider) then moved onto toddler cups and actually if you are on older baby teats anyway, there isn't a great deal of difference in the amount they get out so they don't gag.

However, here's a tip: first time out - give them very cold water, it'll stop them drinking it so quick and gagging

have u tried putting avent magic cup spouts on your avent bottles. I did this with DD still her familiar bottle so she was fine with drinking milk from it.

My little boy would never take formula from a beaker,
luckily i had got him down to just one bottle a day by 10months (or so, hard to remember exactly)

i have never really worried about the damage to teeth as can't imagine that one bottle at his age does that much damage
also think this is if the drink in the bottle is sweet (formula or juice) which his isn't.

he is 15 months now and still has one bottle a day, just that now it is cows milk
because it gives him so much comfort and because the rest of the day he is fine taking it from a beaker or an open cup i haven't worried too much about it.

maybe try an open cup if they won't take a beaker (with lots of supervision though as they tend to make a lot of mess)
