Hi all,
is these an older model (tripp Trapp) with a high back and a newer model with a lower ^backrest (that you buy a babyset with)

was thining of buying one second hand, but some look a bit different than the others.

if i go for the antilop, up to what age/weight should i use it? and after that, a booster seat for the dining table??

TIA

FTMum · 18/04/2008 00:33

thanks moondog, i was thinking of going for it.

what doyou think you will use after it?

is it sturdy enough? i was hoping to take it into the garden too.

it won't fall over will it? (stupid question?)

It is vary stable.Legs are splayed. You could use it intil well after 1.

LargeGlassofRed · 18/04/2008 01:03

have used the ikea one from 5 mouths till 2.5 only descovered them by my third and think they are excellent so easy to clean and easy to take the legs off and take away with you.

LargeGlassofRed · 18/04/2008 01:04

after that they can just go on normal chairs mine are all giants though

you can get (which I think is a FAB invention) a plastic 'thing' which goes under the legs of any dining room chair so the chair is raised. my neighbour has them, will see if i can find. good idea for after the highchair stage instead of a booster seat.

tbh they dont look too nice - their one is lime green

[http://www.olivers-baby-care.co.uk/Baby-Tall-Dining-Chair-Height-Adjuster/24pol73p.asp its kind of like this] but their's is much more chunkier and stable looking

egypt · 18/04/2008 06:43

this i mean

I went to Ikea yesterday (oh, joy) and bought the Antilop - my baby is six months old and she loves it. She's quite little for her age - I don't know how old/big your lo is, but I also invested a couple of quid in the Stadig inflatable cushion that goes inside the Antilop here. It holds her in and makes it v v comfortable, judging by her smiley face. Whole chair feels very stable. And so light - you could easily move to the garden.

btw, my ex-pat sister (rather well-heeled; a happy sucker for all things designer) has travelled the world with her trusty Antilop for all three kids. Would never bother with another highchair and nor have all her mates.

The Antilop one is fab. We have one at my mum's and one in the car always! (We bought 6 for our baby-full wedding - the venue bought the others off us).

We do have the Stokke one too (the new version with the slightly lower back. I think they both need the babyset for tinies though - don't bother with harness or cushions). I like how her feet are supported with it. But tbh we invested in the Tripp Trapp as we hadn't been extravagant with other baby things, dh liked the 'design' element, and our dining table is in our front room so it looks a little nicer than the white plastic Ikea one (although the antilop isn't unattractive at all). Does mean our highchair cost more than our (Ikea) table and chairs though!! .

Thanks everyone.
umlellala- great idea for the wedding and even better that they bought them off you!

thanks for the lnk egypt. also saw a booster in a shop this morning.

Tallis my boy is quite little too, so will get the cushion.

I think i will get the antilop. and then if i find a knock down bargain for a tripp trapp (prob unlikely) i will use the antilop at my mums.

ORIGINAL POST WAS SUPPOSE TO BE:

Hi all,

is there an older model (tripp Trapp) with a high back and a newer model with a lower backrest (that you buy a babyset with)??

was thinking of buying one second hand, but some look a bit different than the others, so i wasn't sure of the difference.

if i go for the antilop, up to what age/weight should i use it? and after that, what would you use, a booster seat for the dining table??

dont know about the old vs new tripp trapp, but also meant to say we also have the antilop. perfectly good. don't waste your money unless you have a showhome. they're not in it forever..

Umlellala · 19/04/2008 09:30

As mentioned, there is an older model with a higher back but you need the extra babyset (not sure if this is the same model) for both. Don't bother with the cushions or harness.
