Freezing purees - what do I put on the top of the ice cube tray?

Have just made up a batch of apple puree - put it in an ice cube tray ready for the freezer, but what do I put on top of it so that stuff doesn't get in it? Is Tin foil ok?

I just put full ice cube trays in a ziplock plastic freezer bag and take care not to tip them up as I put them in the freezer. Then when they are frozen you can just pop the cubes out of the tray into the bag and label with date/contents, etc.

No need to cover - just put into freezer bags when they are frozen.

The annabelle Karmel ice trays come with lids and are only 6 quid for two (or £8, can't remember)

Chipbutty you have to cover them, otherwise not only will they absorb other smells from the freezer and not taste very nice, but the frozen food can also be damaged by freezer burn.
