Are the Ella’s 7 month pouches really 7 months?

I did BLW last time so never used a pouch or purée.

For various reasons I’m doing a combo of purées and finger food this time. DD is 6 months old. I’m quite happy pureeing fruit and veg myself. I like the look of the whole meals ones for when I don’t properly cook, but they say 7 months. Why?

Might have more texture maybe. I can't think of any foods allowed at 7 months that wouldn't be allowed at 6 months

What's on the ingredients list?

Thanks. It says something about different textures and flavours. Instead of just plain peas which is a 6 month product, it’ll be a mixture of things like a range of vegetables, pasta and cheese. Maybe branding?

Probably just because it's not single flavours and may have more texture. It won't be dangerous or anything

They have different stages so there is a build up of textures and more complex flavours. I wouldn’t offer a 7 month+ pouch unless you’ve done simple smooth veg purées (whether homemade or pouch) before moving to the next stage.

How come though? Is it because they might not like it?

I used them and it's just that they're slightly more textured than purée. More a full meal than 1 ingredient. The 10 month ones are really chunky

I think it’s just about getting used to new flavours and making sure that they can handle the smoothest of purées before moving to textures.

You could try one and if your lo isn't ready for it you could either blitz it a bit to make it smoother or try again later on
