Baby suddenly doesn't like porridge

My little one has been having a small amount of porridge in a morning for a few weeks and seems to have been enjoying it. But the last 2 days he has been twisting away from me and dribbling most of it back out.

Is this normal for them to suddenly go off it? Is it that he's fed up of it now? We've had a few problems with his bottle feeding and now I feel like we're going to have a problem with weaning 😩

Look inside his mouth. Might be an early tooth, or something sore.

How old is little one? X

Porridge is one of the few things neither of mine will eat (just lucky: they aren’t picky eaters) but they both turn their nose up at it! They like boiled egg and soldiers.

I expect he’s just a bit bored of it, variety is key at that age. Give them different things as often as possible. My DD eats pretty much anything now (apart from onions) and we gave her a huge variety as a little one.

Also, much better for them to feed themselves rather than being fed.

My ds used to eat so many varied things pre-1 year old. Then it was like, bam, started to refused almost EVERYTHING. He was fine, just fussy over certain tastes. Plus, humans get bored of the same food over and over, often.

If you're early stages of weaning just offer something else (maybe something cold if she's teething) and try porridge again and a week or so.
Greek yoghurt went down well with mine, or mashed avocado or banana perhaps? Or some bread or toast to gum at?
Easier said than done, but try not to stress and just enjoy baby's reactions to different flavours and textures.

Thanks guys.

We think he is teething as he started to refuse his bottles about 10 days ago and will only have them if he has a powder half an hour before. No sign of a tooth coming through anytime soon though.

I'm going to try him with some carrot puree later and let him try and feed himself and see how he gets on.

Here's hoping he's just bored of it...I just have a feeling he's going to refuse everything 😩

I used to mix porridge with some fruit purée or mashed banana for a bit of variety, maybe he is just a bit bored.
You could try weetabix instead or some yoghurt and toast fingers, or scrambled eggs.
Don't give up though, they do go through phases of not wanting to eat and are really good at knowing when they're not hungry or had enough at that age and teething can mess up mealtimes.
Cold or Frozen fruit can be good when teething, like watermelon or pineapple cut into sticks or make into lollies with special baby fruit feeders
