Penne pasta for finger food...

...Take it this is okay for 6 month olds?

Bought some kids Ragu sauce and just gonna let her go a bit wild tonight with lots of different types of finger foods.

Oh and I also give her cheese on toast as a finger food.

Any other good ideas?

Yes, although those twisty ones are easier to hold on to.

Fruit. My dd loved melon slices and half mangoes.

Very keen on rice cakes.

Steamed baby corn, cucumber, roasted root veg.

Anything that's the right shape and not too salty, or has honey in etc etc. We didn't do apples and grapes that early because of the choking risk.

My ds found penne difficult - because there was a hole down the middle, when he tried to suck it in nothing happened.Entertaining for the watchers but frustrating for him! Spirals were easier to manage.

Yes she has rice cakes with philly.

Steamed baby corn is a good one...

I was keen on asparagus spears (think I got that from Aitch's blog) but tis not the season...

Ooh parsnips would be good, also must try broccoli.

What age were you people giving the whole pasta twisty ones / fusilli.

LO is 9 months and still too scared to give her it. Guess if I cook it well it shouldn't be an issue at this point?

I didn't actually mean "you people" I had typed you and thought mmmm "people" is better. You people actually sounds rude oops

MrsBadger · 10/04/2008 16:07

I don't give dd jar sauce but we are poncey like that

agree fusilli are easier to manage

and veg sticks / lumps are good too - potato or sweet potato wedges are a winner here
