8.5mo DD not eating anything I've cooked!

My 8.5 month DD used to eat all her vegetables very happily (particular favourites - carrot and cauli cheese). She has had a couple of colds and stopped eating as much but seemed to perk up. I prepared a lot of purees for her which I have frozen and she won't eat any of them. These include the standard carrot/ parsnip and more complicated minestrone type things. If I give her one of these she stores the food in the back of her throat and then throws up. She also gets very upset and cries for a while.

To stop myself getting stressed about it, I have been giving her organic baby food in jars (Plum baby) which seem to be going down better but she still won't take anything I've prepared.

I've tried re-pureeing everything in case it was too lumpy and that is no better. She takes a little bit of finger food but generally just sucks it a bit and throws it onto the floor. Any ideas to get her eating my food again? Should I leave purees for a bit and try BLW? Help!

hi, all 3 of mine have been the same, i spent ages with each of them making purees, but hey didn't want to know, gave them jars and they were happy, tried puree again still nothing. would rather give them jars than have them starve. although all 3 have been good with finger foods.

Hi, my little girl, 9 mths, has started doing the same thing. I cant get her to eat anything with lumps and she is not interested in any finger food at all. Some days she loves my food, especially if I mix in sweet potato and other days she wont eat one spoonful. I was worried about it but everyone keeps telling me that she cant starve herself and if she was really hungry she would eat. I was thinking it could just be sore gums? I also keep resorting back to the same old favourite recipies even though it means she has a more limited diet I would rather she ate!

at 8.5m so long as she's having as much milk as she wants she won't starve without solids.

I'd keep offering finger foods, but if jars are the only way of stopping you getting stressed about it then I wouldn;t stop those completely.

i agree with mrsb, milk's the main thing at the moment.

Thank you all so much. I've made some very basic purees (pear and so on) as these seem to go down well even when she is being picky. I think I will carry on with the jars to supplement as it is harder to not get stressed if she is refusing food I have spent a day cooking. She isn't very into finger food - licks and sucks it but doesn't actually eat but I have started giving her more and I'll see how that goes.

I think I see other babies eating spaghetti and so on happily and worry that she isn't getting what she needs. She was like this with milk as well early on so it is probably just my DD! Thanks everyone.

if i cook something special for dd it almost always goes on the floor, that's why she gets what we're having. glad you're feeling a bit perkier about it all.
