Weaning a windy/colicky baby

DS2 is a while off weaning yet (currently 16 weeks) but I just want to be well prepared! - he is a very windy/colicky baby and is prone to constipation (formula fed cow and gate comfort) and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of weaning a baby with similar issues. I am not looking to wean him until he is 6 months as I say I just want to be well prepared!!!

nowt to do with weaning (sorry), but if he is windy/colicky/constipated on his current formula, ahve you considered trying a different one?

Hi MrsBadger - he has been windy and colicky since birth - he was originally breastfed, then on Cow and Gate Premium then Cow and Gate Comfort and had wind and colic issues with all 3! He is slightly better on the Cow and Gate Comfort so I am loath to try something else, I think the fact that it is a thicker formula than the normal ones seems to help.

My baby was very windy/colicky with terrible constipation (but bf) and I was really worried how weaning would affect her. I waited until she was six months (figured her digestion would be better by then too). The first few weeks of solids she suffered from a lot of gas, but at around 6.5 months it suddenly got lots better and she went from pooing every 6-8 days to being daily (hooray!). I think that probably has more to do with a mature digestion by then than the weaning, but there is light at the end tunnel. DD is a different baby now - much, much happier
