one in the morning and one in the evening.

As it is I lied and said that he was having 3/4 hrly feeds. This is true of the day, but he has between 5 and 10 feeds during the night (in fairness they last approx 5 minutes).

She also said to give him a cup of water during the night.

What do you think?

My husband said that instead of sneaking chocolate bars through the railings when he goes to school I'll be putting a breast through!

We haven't seen our HV since DD was 8 months old. She's 17 months now. There is only so much patronising twaddle one can take before one starts to mock them openly.

Actually it was our last visit as we've just left the country. I always left so much worse after going to see them. If I said 'he has porridge for breakfast', I'd get 'give him wheatabix'. If I said he said breakfast at 7.30, I was actaully told 'give him breakfast at 8'!

They should be trying to build our confidence, not make clones of our babies!

My health visitor seemed really anti-bfing!! In the very first two weeks when I was learning but doing okay, she was actively trying to push formula on me. At the six month check-up she seemed astonished I was still feeding him because it is apparently such a chore (!!) and started to talk about ways to get him fully weaned. (I had not said I had any concerns, quite the opposite). She had also been pushing me (and my friend) to get onto solids from four months - don't they have to follow their own guidelines when giving advice? Is she a lone maverick? And with any further advise I can basically do the opposite for best results.
