BLW vomiting and development

Hi all just looking for some reassurance really. Did BLW with my LG who is now 2.5yrs she absolutely flew with it. Just started with LB has been almost 3 weeks and he’s doing ok.

my concern is that tonight he’s had pasta (prepared appropriately I use solid starts) and he’s gagged as he always does but he’s vomitted 3 times during the meal due to gagging. He does appear to have bitten more off than usual assuming that’s why but is it normal to vomit during BLW never happened with first?

not sure this is relevant but he’s also 6.5months and isn’t rolling. He’s quite good at pushing himself up off his belly but hates tummy time and on his back he will roll on to his side but no further. I’m not too worried as I feel rolling is coming? He can however sit up independently extremely well with a straight back.

tia

No idea with the vomiting sorry although I have seen threads about it in the past so you're not alone.

Hopefully someone will be along soon.

Some babies just take to it quicker than others. Why not switch to traditional weaning for a while until his core is a bit stronger, a little mashed food along with finger food? I had one child who got on great with BLW and another who didn't like it at all and preferred being spoon fed til he was a bit older.

My DS had a very strong gag reflex that induced vomiting in the early weaning days (we also did BLW and he was my 2nd child). We persevered and he did grow out of it.

@Chopinator I think that both of the above posters make valid points.

It was our experience that both babies were very different when it came to weaning.

DS just wanted it shovelled in as quickly as he could cope with, DD wanted to feed herself with whatever we were eating.
