DD is 6 1/2 months and after a shaky start, has now started to take solids. We have introduced 3 meals: cereal for bf, veg and potato for lunch (and as of yesterday some meat too), Fruit or Veg with potato for tea. For lunch and tea, she prob only takes a couple of cubes and for bf, about 2 tablespoons if I give her cereal first. I can't get her take both milk and breakfast in the morning. If I give milk, she won't take any cereal and if I give cereal, she'll take a max of 2 oz milk. Does it matter? Which is the best approach? She has the recommend daily amount of formula even if she doesn't take milk for breakfast but that's because we are still giving her milk at 10pm which I would like to start cutting out. Also she is now waking with a dirty nappy every morning which tells me we haven't got the balance quite right yet. Advice greatly appreciated.

why would her waking with a dirty nappy every morning mean that you haven't got the balance right?

I think she's too little to cut out her late milk yet - she'll probably need it to get her through the night. And I don't see the problem with the dirty nappy in the morning. Her pooing pattern is bound to change as her diet changes.

Try putting the formula milk in the breakfast ie porridge.
