Anyone else’s baby like this?

I have been giving purées and some finger food to my 6mo for about 3 weeks (big baby, can sit, shows other ready signs etc). He is very independent does not open his mouth for the spoon when I give it, he wants to hold his own spoon and give himself it but this results in barely anything actually going in. He then winces and maybe does it another couple of times before throwing his spoon all over the place and getting annoyed and wanting to get out his chair. He loves wedges of orange and seems a bit better with BLW but I’m a bit too nervous to solely do this.

It’s like he knows what to do (putting spoon/food in mouth) but when he does he hates it. I’ve tried plain veg, mixed veg, fruit, porridge with berries, yoghurt, loads of different things!

anyone else has this situation? Does it get better? I’m just persisting atm but it’s quite disheartening with majority ending up on the floor or me!!

My 1st was like this, point blank refused to open her mouth for a spoon. We had to go full on BLW. My 2nd is a bit better so we've done a mixture this time.

Both haven't swallowed much for the first maybe 6-8 weeks and then it's like something clicked and they have started actually enjoying it. Before then they pulled faces at whatever went in whether it was sweet or bitter or whatever.

I’m also confused about BLW! Like can I batch make a load of potato sticks or carrot or whatever and freeze it for the week and defrost or do I need to cook it fresh each time? Seems like so much more work

My second was like this. I just ended up giving her finger food which she demolished quite adeptly.

Could she eat mainly what you eat? If she's over 6 months it doesn't have to be just fruit and veg Wink
