DS just will not drink water

DS is 7 months and is having three meals a day but will not drink any water at all - i've bought about three different beakers but he refuses them all (he's happy to swing it round in the air and chew it!) Any ideas on how I can encourage him to drink, I've tried adding a bit of juice and still not interested

Give him water the same temp as milk, or warm it up if he has coldish milk.

Try it in a bottle or a cup.

If he's bf he won't need water as well.

If you're worried about dehydration you can make his food sloppier.

He may just like splashing water around, and not get that it's for drinking too.

Or he may not be thirsty.

How are his poos? (hard/soft?) If soft I wouldn't worry about trying to get extra water in him, just carry on with milk (is he bf/ff?) & solids leaving a beaker of water out for him to "play" with at mealtimes. He will eventually get curious & used to the taste of water. If he is constipated then try offering solids with a high water content or maybe lessen solids like rice or bananas & increase milk until he starts taking more water.

My own DS got constipated occasionally when we started solids (blw style) but reducing things like rice cakes helped as did offering the breast more. I didn't start giving him water with his meals until he was nearer 8/9 months & even then he mostly only took the odd sip & immediately spat it out again...took a while to get used to the taste . I had more success offering him sips from my glass when I had a drink in between mealtimes.

I wouldn't personally use juice, even fresh stuff at this age. Much harder to get the off juice once that's started imo.....my DS has only had things like fresh oj in the last year or so (he is 3.5yrs now) & so still prefers water.

Did you just start weaning at six months? If so i would just give it time, maybe offer him a sip from your glass when you have water and just let it be around he will soon cotton on.
