DS is 7 months and has porridge for breakfast and then veg for lunch and supper but not sure when I am supposed to introduce a pudding, like fruit, I have tried recently and he has taken a couple of teaspoons of fruit after the veg or should I be giving one of the meals as fruit so he has one veg meal and one fruit meal a day??

Fruit is fine. Dd1 loves organix fruit pots. most of those types are suitable from stage 1.
Also no reason why if he is hungry enough you cant give him a bit after veg.
