dd is eating about 4 35ml cubes a day now - fruit and veg. poos pretty solid but still at least once a day. is this normal or does she need water. other food is bm.

normal, soudsn fine . Breast milk will compensate and there is still a lot of water content in the food . Water only needed in hot weather if b'fed.

if she is still having lots of breast feeds then she shouldn't need any other liquids I think. I certainly never gave any water to my DD, just more BM if she was thirsty. she is now 9mo and still gets a BF after her meals. We do give her water, but she just purs it all over the place.

I only give my ds water to get the idea of a cup, he doesn't really drink any which I guess he would if he was really thirsty and he's just on solids and bm (he's 6mo). I did notice when I started solids with him it took him a couple of weeks for his poos to settle down, there was quite a bit of straining and hard poos. I just figured it was because his bowel had never had to pass anything more exciting than bm so was working hard for the first time.
