I need some inspiration. DS has far too much pasta - tonight it's pasta e peas ( Façon Aitch). He also has a fair few roast chicken dinners.

I got stuck in a pasta rut for a bit. Now I make sure to keep a portion of whatever I eat. Ds eats earlier than us, so I used to just have frozen pots of cottage pie or pasta and sauce. Still do to use on busy nights or if we have something that doesn't take kindly to being reheated but usually he eats what we eat but the day after.

Recently he has had chili, fish pie, risotto, cauliflour cheese and tonight is cottage pie.

Last night we had risotto with grated courgette and carrot. it was yummy, dd loved it (plus it was a good way of getting dh to eat some veg!)

roast chicken dinner, lol!

we do lots of pasta as well, and roast veggies, DD loves roast sweet potato, parsnips and butternut squash

home made fishcakes always go down well, as does eggy bread and risotto (great for getting really mucky with)

generally she gets what we have, and if it's chilli or curry, I make a wee pot separate with just a little spice in it.

How do they eat stuff like rice and curry/chilli? Do I just have to embrace the mess? I'm still giving him stuff that he can hold fairly easily.

dd (9 months) had cream of mushroom soup + carrots and parsnip from the original stock. We rip up chuncks of bread + put it in her soup, it soaks up the soup + she can then pick up the pieces + feed herself.

I like that idea chibi

Yup puppydogtails; get some of those sleeved bibs and just let him get stuck in . I do get the odd spoonful in as well, just to make sure she gets enough, but she gets really cross with me if I try to spoon feed her now!

Puppy - slightly overcook the rice (and don't rinse it beforehand), mix in chilli/curry, and it's a pretty easy handful. DD had hurriedly made fishcakes and some peas tonight, as we'd both fallen asleep and woke up at 5pm. DH and I had omelettes and potato wedges a bit later, but if I'd been more organised we could have all had that. She likes omelettes with cheese and chopped wilted spinach in the middle. I'll add a bit of yoghurt to her bowl of curry, or some mashed avocado or sour cream to chilli. That said, she has a higher tolerance for spicy food than I do.
