You can add breakfast whenever you want - I started ds on 3 meals a day at 6 months and he was more than happy with it! Organix do lovely baby cereals that are really quick to make and have no sugar or anything nasty in them. Fruit, yogurt, toast, gypsy toast etc all good too. If your baby is enjoying lunch and tea then I would go for it!

Sounds a good idea but didnt want too much too quick .. DS takes few spoons each meal ..

I'm currently doing breakfast and lunch, going to introduce tea this week (ds is 6months) he absolutely guzzles his food and that's after his bf!

Does he take all thats made up like a whole cube of veg or fruit ? as my DS just has few spoonfuls and im left with half a cube of veg .. ?

yeah, he takes everything I give him, I've never had anything left from what I've prepared. I've just checked the little cube things I've got and they're 35ml size, I usually give two for lunch, with maybe a bit of baby rice to thicken it if it needs it. He's on a third meal now, just a little bit at first cos I don't want to interfere too much with his breast feed, so I give him just one cube of veggie or fruit or a table spoon of yoghurt with a couple of inches of mashed banana.

i started at 22 weeks doing lunch only for 2 weeks - eating a cube by end - then break for two. started tea this week and stepped it up to 2 cubes at lunchtime - only fruit and veg. not sure when to go for it with cereal, pasta, dairy etc but going to try a bit of porridge tom..

seems to be so much conflicting advice out there but think i am probably lucky as dd seems to be a bit of a scoffer like her mum

MrsBadger · 12/03/2008 18:09

I offer dd three meals a day
how much she actually eats (vs throws on floor / smears in hair / wipes on clothes etc) is up to her

MrsB, my highchair is due to arrive tomorrow so I think I'll be in the same boat as you... until now I've fed ds in his bouncy chair and he's not been able to go anywhere while I shovel food in to his mouth !

Naboo · 13/03/2008 16:06

i tried bouncy chair, but the over enthusiasm for the food meant the spoon duffed her in the forehead! i have to put my foot on the seat so no bouncing occurs now. showed she enjoys her food suppose.

she's only had four days of baby rice - 2 days and squash 2 days, at eleven, but really taken too it. do you reckon it's fine to go to 3 meals already? she still takes all breast milk. would it overload her system to move so quickly? she's been solely BF for 6ms, so feels so odd giving her anything but booby!
