and I thought quinoa and some types of beans might be good to try. Are they ok for babies (ds is 6 mo)?

Quinoa is fine for babies, from what I know. Red lentils are a good thing to try, as they don't have the skins on them, so they're lower fibre. Other beans have too much fibre, imo.

lovely, thanks nqc. I did wonder about the effects of beans on his little bowel, but more of the farty effects. I'll hold off on those for a bit, I've got some red lentils, so I'll try those next!

DS (6.5mo) loves quinoa+fruit puree+Greek yoghurt. Also red lentil 'soup'.

My dcs both LOVED chick peas as finger food. Well cooked so they are nice and soft, but they hold their shape and are easy to pick up.

I laso made a dahl with a little cumin and coriander in it to dunk bread in and suck.

bluechampagne, I saw your reply to my other thread about quinoa, thanks for that. Do you mush it up a bit cos ds was not too keen on it, he kept gagging, which i know is normal, but most of it came up. I have made the ak lentil recipe (not too dissimilar to the lentil soup I normally make) and he loved it too. Great idea about the chick peas seeker, I hadn't thought of them. I always get a bit mixed up with these sort of things, are they protein or carbs, but you've answered my question for me.
