7 month old screams when I try to feed him

He's been weaning from about 5 months and is able to sit up in a highchair with a tiny bit of flailing around (!). I'm feeding him 3 meals a day and some finger foods, but my problem is that really often as soon as I strap him in his chair he starts crying so hard that I can't actually get any food in him. Sometimes I know it's because he's tired, but other times he's well rested. I've tried feeding him in other places and that doesn't seem to help either. Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice or tips on why it might be happening?

does he have milk before food?

he might be too tired, and he might not want to sit down for 3 meals a day and finger food. he has a lot of exploring and growing and learning to do.. don;t force the issue with meals, if he is geetting lots of milk, he does not need 3 meals a day and snacks....no point making meal time a battle ground at this early age

oh just leave it, give him milk, the poor little guy. try again in a week and forget about the highchair, just sit him on your lap. good luck.

lulu and aitch are right, don't make it a battle

lots of milk and relax about it

Thanks for the advice, I'll just go with the flow, feed him when he wants it and not bother when he doesn't - presumably he doesn't need to be eating that much at 7 months anyway?
