Am I starting too early?

Baby is 22 weeks old-have given her a bit of pureed carrot and baby rice since Friday but am now starting to worry that I've started weaning her too early.

Shes been exclusively BF'd since birth and she now feeds every 2 hours or so, so HV thought it might be time. She can't quite sit unaided yet but has been very interested in my food and drinks.

I was hoping to try BLW can I do this from 22 weeks or should I wait till 26 weeks?

Tis all very confusing...

www.babyledweaning.com

put some food in front of her, steamed carrot always a good one, in pieces she can pick up and see what happens

but if she is not sitting quite yet, she might not be ready

www.kellymom.com got some really good clear, concise info about readiness for weaning

feeding frequently is not neccesarily a sign of anything, except a growth spurt

You can certainly try BLW before 26 - the whole idea being that she'll do it when she's ready.

I wouldnt shovel purees before 26 weeks, personally. But that's just my opinion.

It's not likely you've done harm.

Phew glad no harm. DP was excited to wean and all the other babies we know started weaning around 20/21 weeks which I think knocked my confidence a bit. Might try her wikth some carrot sticks then go from there, maybe stop and try again in 4 weeks.
