Baby led weaning

I posted on here a couple of weeks ago about starting to wean and got a great response about baby led weaning.
Well, this week, I have started giving dd the odd piece of steamed veg (carrots and sweet potato) to hold while we eat in the evenings. I don't think she has actually ingested anything yet, but she's having a good go at mashing it up with her teeth/gums! She definitely seems to know that it is for eating and not just playing with! The problem is, I think she seems frustrated that she's not actually eating anything...
She's 22 weeks.

she's maybe just not capable yet, you could wait awhile and try again, there's no rush. if you are concerned that she is hungry then carrot, pureed or otherwise, is not going to be as good at filling her up as milk is.

I'm happy just letting her play with it and see what it smells/tastes like, aitch. It was more a statement than a question (not very well phrased). I'm pretty impressed with the fact she's getting in her mouth, liking the taste and is so interested.
It's just that I can't imagine anything more frustrating than having food infront of me and not being able to eat it - it's the stuff of anxiety dreams! Your blog's fab btw.

ah but she doesn't know that yet, she just thinks it's a smushy toy. you have to stop projecting your adult nightmares onto her... thanks for the compliment, i keep meaning to move over to the new site... so much work to do.
