How much food does your baby eat?

Hi everyone,

My baby is 8 months old and I’m not sure she’s eating enough.

So my question is, how much food does your baby eat?

Thank you x

Food before 1 is just for fun Grin (sorry to trot that line out). The answers will wildly differ, because there's no set amount or average amount. Some babies hardly eat anything until they're around 1YO. Some eat very decent portions from the off. My first took a long time to get the idea of eating and mostly spat stuff out or licked her hands until around 11 months. At 8 months she was still on one mashed meal a day and a few melty puffs. My second wolfs down food and has done since about 8 months, and loves chewing on steak. Please do not worry about how much your baby is eating and continue to give the same volume of milk as is required.

The NHS advice is to start offering food 3 times a day between 8 and 9 months so if you're doing that, and she's eating some of it, you're doing really well Wink

@FoodFann have a look at this guide from the Caroline Walker Trust. You'll need from page 39. It gives sample menus and suggested portion sizes Wink
