6 mo starting down the weaning road and doesn't seem that interested in milk any more...

My ds is doing really well with weaning, he's eaten everything I've given him, but he seems less interested in his milk feeds. I started giving him a few purees a couple of weeks ago, he usually has a tea spoon of baby rice mixed with an ice cube sized portion of pear or banana for breakfast, and a couple of ice cube sized portions of something like sweet potato and carrot or parsnip. I've been bfing him before I give him solids cos I was conscious that as I was starting weaning a bit early I wanted him to keep getting the milk he needs and not to fill up on solids, but he doesn't seem that keen on his milk feeds now. I'm still doing 5 feeds a day, but can I drop one now? What's the form on these things, I'm getting paranoid that he'll be malnourished because I'm sure he can't get all the correct nutrition from a bit of pear and sweet potato. I want to start BLW soon, but I'm worried about him not having enough milk, my milk supply is starting to slide because he's not taking full feeds. Is this a sign I started weaning too early? So many questions!!!

Reading that back it doesn't make much sense does it? I give him the pear and rice in the morning for breakfast and the veggies at lunchtime. Not both together... doh!

My ds is exactly the same - he has gone right off milk especially at the bed time feed - I notice that you didn't get any response so sorry for message now but I wondered how you got on - any help gratefully received. Very happy on solids - loves all pureed fruit and veg but just not that bothered about milk. Like you am concerned he is not getting enough milk.

well if you do BLW then at least he's fully in control of what he eats, mrsm. personally i'd back off the food a bit (or switch to BLW) because as you know, the milk is the thing until they're one.
