8.5 month old gone off finger foods, help!

Wondering if anyone has ever experienced this, whether it's normal and whether anyone has any tips?

My baby originally took brilliantly to weaning. Loved everything she tried finger food and puree. I was so pleased as I felt it was finally something I had succeeded at (baby isn't a good sleeper).

Then teething started and appetite waned. Teething is still ongoing and DD is 8.5 months old. Still seems to be ok with being spoon fed but now not bothering with any finger foods apart from Ella's melty sticks or crisps. She had loved cucumber and broccoli, now she will either play with it and throw on the floor or take one bite and throw it on the floor. Her appetite has reduced too.

I am purposefully not showing any anxiety and acting like I don't care in front of DD, and continuing to offer things each meal time. However a bit disappointed in the amount of food I'm wasting and naturally worried about DD.

Weirdly we have just gone out for a meal and she has happily munched on a flatbread whilst staring at all the other diners.

She seems to get mega excited and spend all the time looking round my kitchen and yelling and babbling whilst we are at home.

Does anyone have any experience or advice? Will she naturally start eating finger foods again in time?

Thank you xx

Bump. Really worried about this and feel like such a failure. DD is also still having tons of milk - 3 8 oz bottles in the day plus 7oz in the night, and sometimes another 3 or 4 oz in the day as well. I know she's only meant to be having like 24oz in total. She is however 99th centile for height and 91st for weight so wondering if that makes a difference? I'll call my HV on Monday as well.

Feel like I can't do anything right.

Hiya. I found that my little one had phases with eating when she was very young and sometimes rejected food she's previously loved.

She self fed very briefly, then refused to eat finger foods for months then suddenly started again on her own. Sometimes there was phases where she wasn't hungry and barely ate.

The best advise I can give is not to worry. Keep offering different foods and different feeding methods and if your child if hungry they will eat, rejecting food for a couple of days is nothing out of the ordinary and hopefully things will return to normal in a few days
