How to get 13 month old to scoop with a spoon?

My DD can use a spoon if I load it with food and put it on the high chair tray . However if I put the bowl down on the tray she prefers to scoop her food with her hands and throws the spoon on the floor.

If I try and guide her hand to show her how to scoop she just lets go as she doesn’t like her hands being held much.

Is there a better way to show her how to scoop her food onto the spoon? I also haven’t tried to get her drinking with a straw so I definitely need to work on that.

Any tips appreciated :)

You just need to keep giving her the spoon and she will get it eventually. If you eat together she will see you using a spoon which will help.

With a straw we has success by using cartons of juice with a straw and squeezing some into their mouth when they put the straw in their mouth. I'm not sure if parents would do that now as I suspect cartons of fruit juice are not offered as routinely as they were when mine were small.

2 matching spoons (teaspoon size); one each. You scoop and feed her, then tell her "your turn; do like mummy".

Her early attemps will end up in her ear, hair, nose, eye but just persevere.

Let her watch you and practice

This is what I did and it worked well. Dd even tried feeding me with the spoon 😊
