Weaning, teething and screaming !

Feel like i'm forever posting on here but i honestly feel completely out my depth at the moment. My LO is 7 months old abit of background is he has severe reflux which is now managed with milk thickener and we were advised to wean early. Things were going well his weight was improving but the last week he has been refusing his milk . He has been a hungry baby up to this point taking between 30 and 36 ounces per day but this last week this has significantly dropped to below 20 ounces . He is teething but he is soooo unsettled all day , he screams and screams . Calpol doesn't help and neither does any teething gels . We have worked so hard to even get him to the 9th centile after dropping to significantly below the 0.4th and i am now worried he's going to go backwards. His last feed is 11 ish and he is a good sleeper and wakes at 7 am so you would think he would be hungry but nope , he is refusing his milk . My question is as he is not taking his milk do i offer more solids ? Also, any similar experiences ? TIA

It sounds as if you have a lot going on there @Npie123

First thing I'd try is offering Ibuprofen instead of calpol as it's much better for dental pain.

Can I ask why he's on Hungry Baby Milk? It's not wrong but I'm just curious ad it doesn't contain anymore calories but does take longer to digest so can make them take less milk overall.

They might be better on a comfort milk, maybe with Dentinox added to the bottle.

Have you tried things like chunks of cucumber or a cold, wet, clean flannel to chew on?

Hey @PritiPatelsMaker thank you so much for your reply! Fab, I will get some ibuprofen and see if that makes any difference 😀Ahhh I was thinking about getting some anti colic drops for his milk but then I wasn't sure if he was too old now to have them ? No, he is just on hipp organic as this was the one we were trying when we got his thickener ( we have been through quite a few )I have read that it may help changing his milk but he is just so sensitive to any changes that I would be scared to do this at this point

@PritiPatelsMaker Sorry yes I have tried the cucumber sticks but he just won't put them in his mouth and if he does it's for a few seconds only😫

Have you tried HIPP Comfort instead of HIPP hungry baby? It might help you out as it will be more easily digestible.

And no, he's not too old to add Dentinox to the bottles although he might not like the taste Wink
