Sorry in advance if this is long but I’m going to try and include everything in case it’s relevant!
My DS is 7.5 months and until very recently (about a week ago) showed no interest in weaning. Last week he started nursery, and maybe a coincidence or watching the other babies but he has now become interested in food. He still doesn’t physically eat very much (if any) but will put the spoon in his mouth, bite and suck on finger foods etc.
As I said he started nursery last Friday. On Sunday when he woke up he vomited. Very unusual for him as he isn’t a sicky baby (this was his 3rd ever vomit!) but we didn’t think much of it as he seemed totally fine not upset no fever etc. Monday sent him to nursery as normal, he was fine all day but that evening at home vomited in the bath a few times, and again a small amount overnight. At this point my DH and I assumed he had picked up a bug at nursery and kept him at home Tuesday and Wednesday. He was sick again a very tiny amount Tuesday night. I didn’t give him any solids when at home those days but he had lots of milk which he was keeping down.
Thursday and Friday he was in nursery fine, but woke up last night (Friday) and vomited a lot again! Still no symptoms of fever or signs of upset stomach really and he seems totally fine and happy.
is there any chance the vomiting could be related to weaning? If it was an intolerance the vomiting would be very delayed after the food (12-24h) but I’m wondering if maybe his stomach is just getting used to digesting solids?
it might also be relevant that he won’t take a bottle at all at nursery so I’ve been collecting him early to make sure he isn’t going too long without milk. And then he feeds a lot in the evenings and overnight. Could he be over feeding on milk when he is also having solids? He is only technically ‘missing’ one feed while at nursery so shouldn’t be too hard to make that up.
he isn’t actually eating much solid food but nursery do give him crackers etc to nibble and those sorts of foods can be filling.
sorry for the long post thanks so much for any help or advice!!
