Have you ever blended at MacDonalds for your baby?

Not me BTW!!!

A friend was asked what she was feeding her ds - she told them he was eating what they ate - the HV asked for more detail as they had found a mum was blending MacDonalds down to feed her dc!

Very scary!

No I haven't. That's not to say that my DDs don't have takeaways or eat out with us. If I was in the habit of going to McD's they would have had some, I'm sure. Probably not blended, mind you.

I don't eat out with my kids as they are a nightmare out. I would;t give my 10 month old MacDonalds though.

Maybe they should have a blender in store for their littlest customers! Right next to the ketchup dispenser and straws!

no, i did BLW, no need to blend

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 20:47

Setting Lulu denial aside - it is the PERFECT BLW meal - ready cooked, easily digestable, soft finger food AND they wouldn't care if they threw it on the floor as most of the customers do it anyway (you dirty beggars)

I've heard this story (or a version of it anyway) not sure if it is one of those urban myths - sadly I suspect that some people might do it. The version I heard - years ago - was that the baby was fed blended Mcfood, plus other unsuitable choices. Sadly there were other issues as well and eventually the child was removed from the parents.

I occasionally have given dd McDonalds food about 3 times a year roughly, after the age of 3 years so no need to blend at that stage.

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 20:50

Thats okay though OPOP

I think you're right though - likely ot be an urban myth and the HV was trying to scare my friend!

HVs recommend "family foods", maybe they should check what that is...

Remember some years ago, a young couple followed that advice and their baby died of an excess of salt. Family foods for them were mainly instant mash, gravy and ready brek.

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 20:56

Most of us were brought up on mash and gravy, formula, pink ponge and custard.

If everything they tell us now were true - the lot of us would be dead or suffering from irreversible bowel conditions.

(Sound just like my own mother!)

McDonalds serve food?

onepieceoflollipop · 09/02/2008 20:57

What I didn't say was that I have Mcfood a little more often than that myself.

Please don't report my post - don't suppose Mcdonalds is on the approved list of Mumsnet suppliers...

pukkapatch · 09/02/2008 20:59

no, but when ds1 was just over a year old, we used to take them to mcd, and let them eat the chips and maybe a chicken nugget. at the time, ti didnt seem too bad an idea.

i'd kill my sister if she did that to my nephew now.

onepieceoflollipop · 09/02/2008 20:59

Octo did you not have cheap sausages as well like us? (sorry if you are vegetarian). Oh and spaghetti hoops - they used to be a vegetable remember!

Octothechildherder · 10/02/2008 07:49

Basically anything that would go in a deep fat fryer or boiled to death!

I remember being in a motorway service station with my two when they were 5 and about 10 months. I was feeding ds home made organic vegetarian pasta and sauce I had brought with me and he was alternating spoonfuls of that with bites of the Macdonalds chips he had in each hand. Now that's what I call a balanced diet! I woud have had an attack of the vapours if anyone had suggested that PFB went within smwlling distance of McDonalds at that age!
