Hi - my first post on here although I've read heaps of useful advice here since DD was born as I struggled on with breastfeeding, so thank you!

I started weaning DD at 25 weeks and all went very well - very keen to eat anything I gave her and aside from groaning between spoonfuls (I took this to be impatience for the next mouthful) no problems at all. However a week or so ago she started to cry between mouthfuls but as soon as the next one came in reach she'd go quiet and eat again. Yesterday morning though it's evolved again into inconsolable screaming - never heard her sound in so much pain before (she's not a cry-y baby). I have to give up in the end as even taking her out of the bumbo and walking around doesn't quieten her down. If she does stop & I try again it prompts screaming immediately. Is something hurthing her? Please help - don't want to put her in more pain. Thank you.

Hi

I think it sounds like she could be teething and the spoon is hurting her sore little gums? Try rubbing a bit of teething gel on her gums before feeding to numb them temporarily (dentinox works well)

Hi Sazisi,
Thanks for your help - we've just successfully finished todays dinner without tears. I had some bonjela that I rubbed on beforehand and I seem to have my happy little girl back - me singing The Oke Koke throughout may also have assisted too! Thought she was teething last week but then nothing happened I wrote that idea off but I guess that was the problem afterall. Thank you so much! I can look forward to meal times again!

I'm glad it worked
I think this is the first time I've given anyone helpful advice on here; I mostly just come on to read about breastfeeding too
