How much water/ fluids should an 8 month old drink to avoid constipation?

My 8 month old has had a couple bouts of constipation and I’ve had to give her Movocol prescribed by the GP to resolve it. I want to avoid her getting constipated if I can help it.

She has 4-5 breastfeeds a day for about an average of 5 minutes but can be for more or less and 2-3 at night (I know it’s a lot but I don’t know how to reduce it as she cries until I feed her).

She has about 50/60ml of water diluting her liquid vitamins at breakfast (doesn’t always finish it). She normally has Weetabix / Readbrek for breakfast. At lunch and dinner I will give her sips of water in between spoonfuls.

How much water/ fluids and what kind of foods should I give/ avoid to keep her pooping regularly?

I’ve read differing advice on how much water to give, so I’m just interested in what others gave their babies at 8 months :)

My baby is 8 months old and still gets the majority of her fluids from formula. She has sips of water at mealtimes, but nowhere near the same volume as the water in her milk (sorry, I know not very helpful when you BF!) Are you able to give a bottle of formula alongside your milk so you can guarantee she is getting a good few oz every day?

What does she eat for lunch/tea? Have you tried loads of green veg, fruits or even things like prune pouches to help her along?

If you're worried about constipation could you fit in another BF during the day?

Have you tried anything different for breakfast? Weetabix sets like concrete if you leave it in a bowl so I can only imagine it does the same to your insides Grin

How about mashed avocado or beans on toast?

Sorry @Emma961064 I did that Mn thing of not answering your question.

At that age I offered water in a cup with food and wasn't particularly bothered of they drank it or nor.
