Can babies eat seeded bread?

Can babies eat seeded bread? Want to try toast with my 6 month old but was wondering if the seeds could be a choking hazard? I like Vogel's soy and linseed (mostly has smaller seeds) and sometimes also have others like Hovis Seed Sensations Seven Seeds Bread or Warburtons Seeded (one of those has larger seeds like sunflower too). We don't usually have other bread in the house.

Seeded bread is a choking hazard.

Try a non-seeded alternative.

Not at such a young age- it's plain bread with no seeds for weaning.

My kids were weaned on seeded bread as that's the only bread we have. The seeds are small so I never considered them a choking risk.

I used to pop a non seeded loaf in the freezer and remove a slice when required for little one.

Me too!

I never thought they were big enough to be considered a choking hazard.

Of course, they can eat anything? Apart from salt and honey!

itsabigtree · 14/01/2023 19:31

Yes absolutely. Only things to be avoided are honey, salt and whole nuts.

Seeded bread is not a choking hazard. How big do people think the seeds are?!?

Workawayxx · 14/01/2023 19:33

I gave it to mine, I assumed the seeds were too small for choking. The only issue is the seeds come out in the poo and it freaked me out so I stopped giving it 😂

DD was weaned on mostly seeded bread. I read somewhere that white is generally better as wholemeal and esp seeded bread will fill them up more and stop them from eating the more nutritious stuff. However DD was a voracious eater as a baby (though no longer as a toddler!) so I didn't worry too much about that.

Yes, mine ate Warburton’s seeded bread as babies, was fine. Not heard of this being a hazard before.

NeverHadANickname · 14/01/2023 19:38

Seeded bread is absolutely fine.
