Baby vomiting up food?

Hello all,

I've started weaning my 6 month old and feel like it isn't going well-we are 5 days in. We initially offered her vegetable and fruit sticks and found that she gagged and then vomited profusely afterwards! She is totally fine once she's vomitted but it seems like when she takes in 'solid' pieces they come back up. I had a freak out and gave her baby porridge and that was fine. Tried again today with boiled apple that I mashed up- gagged and vomited. Has anyone else had this experience? It seems that unless the food is smooth with no form, she will gag and vomit. My older two children never vomited after food but I remember very little about (I seem to have blocked it out 🙈).

TIA and apologies for the essay 😂

Sounds like she might have a very sensitive gag reflex? If you look in the archives there will be lots of old threads in this Flowers

I pureed for a few weeks with a blender before going to 'mashed' food. Maybe give the little one a chance to get used to the pureed food first, then after a couple of weeks make it less runny?

6 weeks after we started weaning with puree she had chunks of Christmas turkey in her hand and chewing it off!

At the same time babies will do things in their own time and ignore our timeliness completely!

Bare with it x

Thank you both!
