Dropping post lunch bottle

My DS is 9 months old and is still having 4 bottles a day as well as 3 big sized meals.

We dropped his post dinner bottle at 8 months just by pushing his dinner 30 mins later so he gets his bedtime bottle 90 mins after dinner and there was no resistance from him to this. I'd hoped that with the post lunch bottle if I made sure his lunches were big & nutritious enough (carb, veggies, protein, fat/dairy) he would stop wanting his bottle or drink a smaller amount of milk to indicate he doesn't need it any more but he still guzzles it down.

Because I want him to nap well after his lunch I'm scared to try putting him to bed without his bottle and when I don't offer him one straight after his lunch he gets grumpy after about 10 mins.

His current routine is:
06:30/07:00 wake
07:15 breakfast
08:00 4oz bottle
09:30 nap (20 - 30 mins)
12:00 lunch
12:30 4 oz bottle
13:00 nap (90 - 120 mins)
17:00 dinner
18:00 bath
18:30 8oz bottle, teeth, book & bed
01:00 - 03:00 4oz bottle sometime on waking in the night.

His sleep's a bit shit at the moment because he's learning to crawl and he's fighting his morning nap.

Has anyone else had to nudge a baby to drop their post lunch bottle - how did you do it and at what age?

My DS is 8 months, nearly 9 and I haven't stopped or reduced any of his bottles. I'm going by his hunger and what he wants.
