Mid cooking and just threw a load of paprika in without thinking - was planning for this to be a baby friendly lasagne... is it still? DD is 7 months.

paprika is quite mild, it should be fine
if it feels hot and tingly in your mouth then I personally wouldn't give it, but paprika isn't usually like that

I think babies in India etc get given spicy stuff from the get go as well

clutteredup · 02/02/2008 13:14

paprika is a natural ingredient i'd say it should be fine

squiggers · 02/02/2008 13:24

ooh thank you - will try it before giving and if it makes my eyes water I might reconsider!! To be honest I don't even notice it so it must be quite mild. Might as well get her used to it now as our cooking tends to be on the spicier side! Thanks for replies!

we used smoked paprika practiclaly in place of salt when dd was that age... so on baked chips, chicken, everything. i hope dd enjoyed it.

Great tip Aitch. I will definitely be using it more now. She loved the lasagne! It was her first taste of garlic too (and mushrooms, aubergine, and a ton of other veg.) On the downside she has been farting like crazy all afternoon! Real proper adult ones that have DH ad I in hysterics! I hope they have stopped before we have visitors later!

Hey Aitch! That smoked paprika is soooo strong dontcha think? Lopve it though and am slightly, er, addicted!

Agree that dd's palate will adjust to your styles of cooking

i've just made a chorizo, lemon and chickpea stew for later so the whole house honks of it, i love it. i get the sweet stuff so it's pungent but not chilli-ish, iykwim?
