Ds is on about third week of weaning and I am giving him solids after a milk feed so do i also need to be offering him water and if so when?

I offered water along with the solids when ds was in his highchair. It was from a tommee tippee first cup and after a short while ds was able to use the cup by himself - I offered it and then left it on the highchair tray for ds to get familiar with it and explore/handle it.

i offer water at dinner time in a feeder cup but he not sure how to use cup yet!hes 7 months.

I offer water at every meal time out of a tommee tippee cup. They still get their fluids from milk at the moment, but felt it was good for him to get used to it. He is 7 months and for the first time today he picked up the cup and drank himself, he was so proud of himself!! I usually put it to his mouth..

kittypower, hope you dont mind but could i just ask clur79 a quick question?is it a cup that the water just flows out of or does he need to suck from it?my ds just playing with the cup at the moment!

yes the water just flows out of it, the coloured cups they cost around a pound in tescos. He can't get water out of any other cups yet.

Be prepared to get wet as he throws it around, but it seems to be doing the trick!

it will be the tommee tippee first cup which is freeflow - I used this for both dd and ds and it was the one they got on best with.
