What did dropping a feed look like for you?

I have a 7 month old DS. Weaned around 5.5 months. BLW with pre-loaded spoons and finger foods. He’s otherwise been EBF. Always been a very hungry (and big) boy! Cluster fed like crazy at the beginning and has never turned his head away when I’ve offered him a feed. So I cant imagine him starting to reject the boob and dropping a feed, but I guess it has to happen for all babies eventually

So my question is what did “dropping a feed” look like for you? Did they not engage when you offered them the breast? Or turn away lots during feeding? I’d like to know what to look out for. Did one particular feed drop first? Was it only once you offered three meals a day?

Thanks!

When I was happy with DS solids intake I went along the “don’t offer, don’t assume, don’t refuse” route. I also recognised when he was just comfort sucking (a couple of sucks and off) so tried offering other things for comfort (a cuddle or a toy). By the time he dropped his last feed at 12.5mo he had started getting really frustrated and I don’t think BM was satisfying him. He eventually was more interested in playing than milk and if I offered him an alternative (yoghurt or fruit or even water) he’d go for it.
