Getting back to eating solid

Since this heatwave of 30+ degrees Celsius, LO 13 m/o not eating solids much, prefers to play a lot but if hungry it's mostly milk or water (I can't breastfeed due to meds so it's formula). Gave abidec. Advice please on getting back to solids when LO says no.

Also if you can give advice to help LO to sleep at night and not from 3.30am. Thnx.

Sounds like you've got a lot going on there, including your own MH Flowers

If you can, I'd try to tackle the night feeding first. There are lots of ways to do this, some you may have heard of like CIO and there are more gentler methods like this one. It's aimed at BFers but there's no reason you can't use it Wink

Once he's used to taking less calories at night, he may have more of an appetite for solids during the day.

Can I ask how much milk he's having? At that age 300ml a day of full fat milk is recommended.

Try foods like mashed banana, creamy scrambled egg, or avocado , bland flavours, easy to swallow textures but with good nutritional values, also quite good water content which is good in heat.

Thank you so much @PritiPatelsMaker yes I think it could be the night feeds, she normally has her milk at night and very early in the morning before 4 am. I will try the methods you suggested and thanks for the blog link, I saved it on my favourites and I will have a read on it. I would say she has 300ml milk but I feel because she is playing a lot maybe she gets tired and the lack of solids I don't know if she is getting enough solid nutrients so I give abidec just in case??😕

Oh yes my LO she loves holding her water bottle, sometimes I think maybe is the water quite so much but then I know in this heatwave, people need water so I watch and monitor the water she takes. But I like the recipes you suggested @viques yes my LO likes banana mashes/purees. But I will try creamy scrambled egg and avocado recipes. Do you use a blender for the creamy egg and/or avocado or do you mash them by hand with cutlery?

Cook the scrambled egg very slowly so it gets creamy , avocado mashes fine with a fork.

If you're in the U.K. it's recommended to give them vitamins till they're 5 anyway and if it gives you peace of mind, that's an added bonus Wink
