Should I wait to wean?

5 months old DD next week. Holiday to Spain 5th September. Should I wait to wean when I'm back? Or would it be ok to give her a yoghurt or something when I'm away?

Totally clueless as this is my first!

thanks 😊

You can do whatever you like! Absolutely no harm in waiting until you're back, but also absolutely no harm in just letting her have a taste of whatever you're eating while you're away. It doesn't need to be all or nothing

We waited with one of mine. 6 months before holiday.. 7 months when we came back. Omg it was a doddle. Bf and not loads of stuff to take away!

I would probably judge it nearer the time. They might not be ready by the time you are going away. Advice is to wait until they are sitting up confidently alone and holding head up. In hindsight I started my DD a few weeks to early because I got hung up on the 6 months thing. As PP said, there’s no harm in letting them explore some tastes while you’re away but full blown weaning will mean you’d need plates, bowls, there’s more mess etc. I’d say that’s easier to do at home

Well she's holding her head up brilliantly, no issues with that. Rolling onto her tummy etc. but not sitting up yet, even though she's trying bless her. I'll wait until she's sitting up on her own then start. Thank you!

Oh we’ve just started weaning. He can’t sit up by himself but he can against a high chair if that makes sense. He loves Greek yoghurt! I’d go for it. We had to mix in some fruit pureee from a pouch though as it’s a little sour. Had it for supper and slept a dream xxx

You can start giving her tastes of things without fully committing to weaning if that's easier.
