Using up some Ella’s pouches

I had a couple of Ella’s apple, carrot and parsnip pouches thrown in with my Ocado order this morning but my DD is 11 months now so too old for purées really. Any ideas for recipes to use these up? I was wondering about stirring through pasta or something, but the apple element makes me feel that I should be thinking more about puddings, plus carrots, parsnip and pasta feels quite carby somehow.

Add a bit of veg stock and make a few small portions of soup?

Or donate to the food bank of you don't want to use them.

bookish83 · 28/03/2022 12:05

Wont do any harm to use them! Just use them as a snack then they are gone or food bank if they accept them

recreationalcalpol · 28/03/2022 12:24

Soup is a nice idea, thanks. Perhaps a toast topping too. Don’t think the food bank takes baby food, but can check.

You could also freeze them in a lolly mould and make ice lollies. Also useful for teething if your baby suffers with sore gums.

I would just give them to DC as a quick snack? No harm in just eating then as they are.

Mumdiva99 · 28/03/2022 12:45

Just give them as a snack. Handy to stick in your bag and can be served cold.

tokyo1 · 28/03/2022 12:45

Oh I do like the freezing and lolly idea though!

Allthesefolks · 28/03/2022 12:45

Keep them for snacks on the go or periods of teething/illness?

MadameDragon · 28/03/2022 12:45

I don’t think anyone is too old for pureed food. Adults still eat soup and smoothies. If the best before date is a while in the future just keep them for emergencies in your changing bag.

Spread it on ready roll puff pastry and make pinwheels, DD loved them at 11 months.
Make ice lollies or frozen fruit drops for the warmer weather.

recreationalcalpol · 28/03/2022 13:59

Ooh, ice lollies are a great idea! Thanks.

I've a feeling you can use them in a muffin-style baking situation too but don't quote me, I'll have a look!
