Personally I wouldn't give Cheerios to a 8mo. Too much sugar (21% according to the label) and also added salt and colourings.

I did but I wouldn't stick my neck out and condone it - I gave them as a snack though, not as breakfast.

dammit there's nothing wrong with home made (or even chip shop) chips in moderation!

stripeymama · 06/01/2008 09:49

Yep - decent chips are fried potato and nothing else.

I know, I know, sometimes I feel like the only defender of the humble chip round here.

MrsBadger · 06/01/2008 10:39

you can get unsweetened cheerio-type things, or unsugared puffed wheat is pretty good

OracleInaCoracle · 06/01/2008 10:42

ilovwe chips too colditz. and ds will only eat coco pops at the mo, weaned early too, so would never dream of judging anyones food choice for their lo's (think cheerios are good as finger food tho)

Mine had shreddies in the morning from about 8 months. I started givng them to her without milk - just a couple to play with, then in a bowl with milk. She's still on them now at 22 months. I don't put sugar on them.

Aitch · 06/01/2008 11:39

they're very sugary, imo. what about mini shredded wheats of non-nestle nearest? i used to dunk them in a little milk in the micro for ten secs.

BirthdayBabe · 09/01/2008 20:20

NO !!!

Surroundedbysnot · 14/01/2008 15:23

In the US they were sugar-free. What a shock when I bought them here ...
