Healthy (& quick) breakfast ideas needed!

15mo DD has been getting increasingly fussy with breakfast, so I need some new ideas for something that's quick and healthy for her.

She used to eat porridge but just spits it out now. Same with Weetabix. Very occasionally will eat it, more often than not it gets spat out. She occasionally has rice crispies/cheerios, but currently just wants rice crispie multigrain shapes. She always has a handful of berries after. I know it's really not an ideal breakfast, but we do need something easy like cereal as mornings are just so hectic. She's ok with toast but she doesn't eat much of it, and we sometimes need her to have bread at lunch so I don't really want her to have too much in a day.

Any ideas please?

If she's fussy with breakfast is she still having milk overnight or a milk feed just before breakfast @ImALittlePea? Either of those could affect her appetite for breakfast.

How about scrambled egg with halved cherry tomatoes on the side or ready break with chopped banana in it?

Thanks for the reply @BunnyRuddington

Hmm yes she's still having milk in the morning. Maybe she doesn't need it then? Haven't tried ready brek but that's a good shout as she loves fruit so can vary it up relatively easily.

At 15 months I'd drop the morning feed and just go straight to breakfast then.

Not sure if your BFing or not but if she's on Cow's Milk she only needs 300 ml a day so giving her something like ready break made with milk will count towards the total Smile

No she's on cow's milk and I'm pretty sure she has more than that every day. Will start to phase out the morning bottle then. Thanks again Smile

How did you get on this morning @ImALittlePea? Did you manage to drop the first bottle?

ImALittlePea · 08/02/2022 13:01

Thanks for checking in @BunnyRuddington Smile my DH was in charge this morning but did her a 5oz bottle instead of her normal 8oz, and then Weetabix with milk followed by some raspberries. She had about half the cereal, which is an improvement. Will probably keep reducing the morning bottle and give some other choices in the morning - they didn't have Ready Brek at the shop yesterday but I did get some Shreddies which I feel is still better than the multigrain shapes!

Check the sugar in shreddies, it’s likely higher than the multigrain shapes
I agree about cutting the morning milk, or leaving a long gap between that and breakfast

Yes you're right, I should check 🙈 thanks @FelicityBob hopefully I'll make it to a bigger supermarket in the next couple of days to get some Ready Brek.

Unfortunately we don't have a big window in the mornings with time because of work/school run etc.
