Hi everyone,

Bit of advise if you don't mind. My Lo has started to refuse purees and spoon feeding except breakfast. Fine by me 🤷🏼‍♀️

So been making sweet potato chunks, chicken breast, fish fingers, jacket potato etc.

Anyways so literally every time I give her any of these foods except pasta toast crumpet sandwiches etc she will literally mush it up, and attempt into her mouth, which I know is all the experience. So I offer a different option usually one of the above, as she eats barely anything. I always done a mix of blw and purees so definitely used to all kinds of foods.

Do I carry on offering another option? As she will eat some crumpet toast etc and eats very well with these items. Surely she can't surrive on crumpet, pasta, toast and sandwiches and cheese 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Is it just a phase? I'm doing all this and it's lots of effort as we don't eat all this type of food often but I always do myself a small portion and eat with her.

How old is she @Fancyties and how much milk is she having?

Fancyties · 12/11/2021 06:17

Whoops. That's the crucial bit. She's 8 months. Drinks 3 bottles a day 6 to 8oz in each and lots of water probably 5oz a day I would say

It doesn't really matter if she doesn't eat much, if she's interacting with the food then that's all good. I did blw and neither of mine really swallowed anything until about 9 months and they obviously didn't perish.

Is the issue that the foods are soft so she's struggling to pick them up without mushing them? She'll get more delicate but not without practice. If that is the issue you can offer more solid fingers of veg and fruit alongside as well.

Food is fun before 1 is the mantra I went with! We did BLW so she did the picking up and mushing and sometimes eating thing. We gave her pretty much whatever we had (unless it was a takeaway or spicy curry) and she just tried/experimented.

Don't sweat if they don't eat, they'll Make it up later I. The week or in milk x

Thank you 🤗

She picks it up fine, doesn't even break it, but then goes ooooo a bit squishy 😂 and then pile of sweet potato in her hand, along with all around her face hair floor 🤣

Sounds like she's doing great OP ☺️ don't worry if she doesn't eat at any one particular meal time, most of her calories are coming from milk at the moment so she's not going to go hungry. As long as she's having 500mlfprmula a day that's got the vitamins she needs as well. It's really about exploring and gradually learning how to eat at this stage.

Thank you 🤗 yep she drinks easily that much formula. As if she's having a low formula day always add another bottle in somewhere but rarely happens now. Plus she has lots of milk in her porridge x
