So my LG is 14 weeks she is on 9oz bottles sometimes more, every 5/6 hours.

Speaking to the HV I have been told not to start weaning till 6 months, personally when I giving my LG 15oz of formula sometimes does this seem a lot?

It does say on some of the baby food products from 4+ month so why do we get advices not to feed until 6 months!

Can someone let me know if there had this with there little one.

To get you to buy it!

Babies shouldn't be weaned under 18 weeks and ideally as close to 6 months as possible. Even when starting weaning milk is still the most important nutrient.

Maybe try feeding more frequently? 5/6 hours between feeds seems a really long time. I BF and my hungry babies never went more than 3ish hours between feeds during the day (and often at night).

Agree with the PP, your baby doesn't need solids yet abs if you think they're hungry I'd start offering a bottle every 3 to 4 hours in the day.

According to the NHS these are the signs that your baby is ready for some solids:

Signs your baby is ready for solid foods
There are 3 clear signs which, when they appear together from around 6 months of age, show your baby is ready for their first solid foods alongside breast milk or first infant formula.

They'll be able to:

•	stay in a sitting position and hold their head steady

•	co-ordinate their eyes, hands and mouth so they can look at the food, pick it up and put it in their mouth by themselves

•	swallow food (rather than spit it back out)

Really appreciate your advice, although I've gone with you should never wake a sleeping baby.

I think I'm going to keep going with the formula for now but might try a spoonful of baby rice maybe around 5 months. XxSmile

It’s ok not to wake them at night by this age if they’re sleeping well, you can just feed when they wake naturally Smile If they’ll take milk more regularly during the day though then offer, tummies are tiny and more regular feeds will help satisfy hunger during the day.

There’s no harm in baby rice but it doesn’t do anything for them really. A lot of people who are now new grandparents will tell you to wean from 4 months as that’s what they were told but advice has changed and it’s really best to wait. Don’t hurry to wean - it’s a complete pain!
