my 4 month old is really interested in food and although i’m not ready to wean yet, is it okay for him to suck on something like an apple wedge? my mum used to let me at that age but i don’t know if it’s one of those outdated things. he wouldn’t actually swallow any. thank you!

I wouldn't give finger foods til 6 months. Apple if gnawed off is a bit of a choke hazard. Bikkie peg biscuits are an option I think at that age. Rock hard so none ever comes off

He definitely might swallow some, even without teeth (their gums are like rock) and the gut isn't developed enough for solids until around 6 months, so personally, unless advised by a paediatric dietician, I would wait until 6 months.

My daughter is 23 months and very interested in driving my drift car - I'm not going to let her! Grin

Apple, no. Choking hazard.
