Can you do BLW with a FF baby?

Have read lots of the posts which all seem to relate to BF. DS is coming up to 5 months and I'm holding out for a bit longer so that we can start with proper food - sounds far more civilised!

oh yes. I'm doing it. And aitch who is one of the founders of the BLW blog also ff (hope I've got that right now).

would enthuse more but DD is being very demanding this morning. Someone more knowledgable than me will be along sortly I'm sure.

Anyways if you go on the BLW blog and select BLW, breast and formula feeding from the menu on the left, about 3 articls down you will find a little and very funny rant about BLW and FF.

My DD is 24 weeks and I've been letting her chomp on bits of apple, cucumber, banana and melon for a couple of weeks now. She has also really taken to organix carrot stix. I don't think anything much is getting swallowed but she's enjoying the biting, sucking etc. I started letting her have a hold and a play with pieces of food because she was getting really irate when I was eating something and she wasn't. Unfortunately what she really seems to want is tea and toast which she's a bit young for. She actually grabbed my cup of, thankfully cold, tea couple of weeks ago and put it to her lips.

Yes! dd was ff and very successfully BLW.

Toast is great finger food btw.

Good luck - what I liked about the BLW approach was the fun. You don't stress about how much food they are having or whatever you just let them enjoy it all!

Am BLWing....love it but... DS is 8 months now and although picks up stuff and is interested in tasting things, he actually eats very little, is this normal?

Has worked fine for me too. DS always been bottle fed, he is 1 on Thursday and eats loads.

TheJen- I am the same as you. It seems that she is not eating much although she chews and sucks most things - especially tangerines so at least she is getting vitamin c. She gets most of her nutrional needs met by milk so am not too concerned. The main thing for me is that she trys absolutely everything. Yesterday we went out for lunch and she sat for 1hr 40 mins just chewing away on various stuff - as well as stuff from our plates!!
