Weaning advise

Evening everyone,

My LO is 7 months old and taken weaning great, started at 5.5 months old when she whipped bits of my plate 😂 We do blw and purees. I'm bit worried about how much food she has.....

Average day:
6/7oz bottle.
Porridge made with cows milk - blue probably about 30/40ml. Portion size - 2.5 scoops of the scoop you use for the milk powder. She inhales this, literally can not get it in her fast enough. Sometimes add some fruit puree. This is the only thing she wants for breakfast and gets well upset if it isn't her porridge. I have tried lots of other things. But she wants her porridge.

11am ish -
6/7oz bottle
I usually chuck her whatever I'm having if not half of small jar of food, or bit of toast with dairylea. If we're at someone's house she just have a puff thing or waffer. If we're out she have off my plate. If she doesn't drink her bottle I don't give lunch I reoffer her bottle or make a fresh before she goes for her nap.

3pm ish 6/7 oz bottle. Sometimes 5 oz

5pm ish half a jar small jar or chuck her some of my dinner

7pm I offer 8oz bottle but takes anywhere from 5oz to 8oz

Sometimes has a night feed, not always though. I leave that up to her.

Is this OK? Some days it's a struggle to get bottles in her. I just go with what she wants.

I would still offer lunch even if she doesn't have a bottle.
You will start to notice her milk will reduce, the afternoon one was the first to for us at 9 month.
If your at someone's house, take a jar or make a sandwich etc for her instead of the wafers.
If your going to offer her off your plate, put it on her own plate.

Just go with what they want

Some days they might eat less and others more

@h0cusp0cus - it's only once a week at a push she has a wafer/puff but your right with the other options it's just she loves them (they are the Ella's ones or similar) I only reoffer bottle instead of lunch as if she's only had like 3 oz, I think milk has more calories in it? She's only 7 months though 😳😬 should she be reducing at this point?

😂 I read that back I don't literally chuck it at her, and didn't explain very well off my plate. I normally take her plate with me, and in front of her pop bits from my plate on hers, she loves everything.

I mean she will try every single thing someone has. Only thing she's not a fan on is fruit especially banana (I sneak that in the porridge or as lunch) and avadcaco. She even tried a pickle onion off my plate to taste and loved it 🤦🏼‍♀️ we had a spicy meatball pasta the other day and literally my own fault sitting too close and she whipped the pasta off and shoved it in her mouth she loved it.

@weepysheepy thank you 🤗 just thought at 7 months 3 meals a day is too much x x

She can still have a wafer, my LO loved them too, I used to give him one whilst I was warming his food up.
Can still reoffer bottle shortly after lunch, or try her milk in a sippy cup at lunch if that's the one your struggling to get in her.
😂 I read it that you were handing her off your plate.
Sounds like she's doing great though so wouldn't really change much tbh.

Funny how Los love the wafer things. I'm sure your lo was the same, her eyes go like saucers when she sees them and her arms go out as soon as sees it 😂

Ah OK I see what you mean, isn't she less likely to accept milk after solids though? Only one way to try. I always offer milk before solid except dinner is always before milk. Thinking about it, when we were out once she only had few oz of bottle at lunch and didn't want anymore, gave her some of my lunch as her little hands were reaching for my plate, shouting at me and she did drink some more after lunch. So worth a go.

Thank you 🤗
